The language is beautiful and evocative, the characters are compelling, well-rounded and morally grey, and I was fully drawn into the story, the tension, and the emotion. I enjoyed the repeated imagery of the ring and the never-ending circle. Parts of the novel brought me to tears, and I ached for Brio for most of the manuscript. This is a beautiful, engaging and well-written novel
I could easily lose warmth towards Brio when he expresses transphobic views early in the story. However, his introduction to the reader, and the struggles he faces, are handled carefully and sensitively. Instead of disliking Brio, I ache for him.
You have a talent for writing ‘morally grey’ characters.
Brio’s story definitely tugs on the heartstrings!
