What the author has managed to do is write a deep story about current issues that are always intensely debated and usually divide people. I loved the fact that there is absolutely no judgement from the author on either regard of the issues discussed, albeit it might just be that the main character’s standpoint is the author’s standpoint.

The book is thought-provoking, to say the least, especially since it contains delicate subjects which imply a sudden personal growth and the need to comprehend and take a clear stand on the subject (thinking about the gender/pronouns issues). I do recommend this book because it’s very good and the subject will entice debates and discussions. But all in all, it’s a sad book because it can happen in real life and that’s something I’d really rather not hear of on the news.

But it’s a damn good book. My feelings bubble on the inside with annoyance for what poor Brio had to go through because NO ONE deserves this treatment and life. I really do hope this is not somewhat inspired from a true story.
